From the Participants of the 4th Critical Psychology Symposium to the Public
From the Participants of the 4th Critical Psychology Symposium to the Public;

As the 4th Critical Psychology Symposium proceeds, we feel greatly worried about the silence regarding the ongoing war in Kobanê, maintained both by the public and by the State of Turkey.

Turkey's discriminatory policies in providing physical (for shelter and basic needs) and psycho-social support for the Yazidis has become a matter of concern upon the sharing of the experiences of the Association of Psychological Counselors who have been actively taking part in the Yazidi camp in Diyarbakır. The depicted situation has increased our worries, and the need to make a call to the public has risen.

As the participants of 4th Critical Psychology Symposium, we regretfully condemn the silence and indifference prevailing in the mental health field in Turkey - both among the professional associations and the mental health institutions of the state-  regarding the situation witnessed and experienced by the peoples of the Middle East who have been obliged to fled their homes upon the assaults of ISIS. We declare that we will be following the process and attempting, in our best, to invert the desensitization and marginalizing in favour of increased public awareness and sensitivity.
